It’s been such a nice week over here.
We opted to stay in Newport for the remainder of the week for many reasons. The weather being one of them. But, also, we’re coming up on our final few days in SoCal and I want to be around family as much as possible.
Ishaan doesn’t seem to be too upset about spending all his time here. He’s thrilled to be around so many people.
And, since Ankur’s done with his board exam and gets done with work pretty early, we get to have the afternoon/evenings together to do all the fun things.
Earlier in the week, we took the baby to the Shake Shack on PCH.
He had his first high-chair-in-a-restaurant experience. If you can call the Shake Shack a restaurant. And he had so much fun watching all the action around us. Most notably calling out the planes that were flying over the ocean. His new favorite thing. Ankur and I are thoroughly impressed with his eyesight. He can spot a plane long before we can.
There have also been lots and LOTS of trips to the playground.
We keep going to the same one. I’m partial to it because it’s a pretty decent walk for me. And it’s also right across from a Starbucks. The mama guilt in me thinks I should switch it up to give him a new experience. But then I look at him running around the place, acting like it’s his first time ever. And I realize he doesn’t need new and exciting and different. The whole world is new and exciting and different for him and he’s just happy being outside, watching the dogs pass by and people waving to him.
The other day, when my sister went with us, she was observing how all the other kids – who were a year or more older than him – were zipping around all over the place. And he’s still so little that everything is so exciting to him and stops him in his tracks.
So he’ll be in the middle of chasing a ball but loses focus because, OH! THERE’S A PLANE IN THE SKY!
We also got to see Zack and Molly after a really long time. We met up with them at a marketplace near their house. It was their first time meeting Ishaan. And the last time we saw Madeleine, she was just a teeny toddler. It’s my life goal to end up back in Irvine and be their neighbors. So, here’s hoping we can convince Ankur to be a SoCal person.
And, lastly, we got to hang out with Sister and Drew again for a little bit. Hopefully we get to see them one more time before they head back up to NorCal!
On the agenda today is…yup, you guessed it, more time at the playground.
Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and wonderful weekend!

How nice. Glad you’re having a good time. Wouldn’t it be fun if we could hang onto that excitement your son has experiencing life? 🙂

That’s great you’ve been able to spend so much time with friends and family!! And your little one is just so cute – I miss when my youngest niece loved pointing out the airplanes.
