Good morning, good morning.
I’m sitting here with a broken coffee-maker and a wild child.
Not a good combination.
It was pouring down rain here in Chicago yesterday and so we did not make it outside. Ishu has a ton of built-up energy that is ready to be released, so the minute it’s light out, we are outta here.
But, before we go, I’ll share a few snaps from our weekend. I thought I’d do things a little different. Share our highlights and behind-the-scenes. Because for every smiley picture I share of Ishu, there are also a zillion pictures NOT taken of me losing my patience or him having a public tantrum. Ha. Here we go.
Friday
On Friday evening, we went to watch Jurassic World at the park. Max and Jenn and Mike came to meet up with us and, in the words of Jenn, it felt like a night that you’d experience in the movies. Sitting in the grass with Roberts Pizza and homemade frosé, watching our littles chase each other around and act like dinosaurs.
I love their love for each other so much.
Behind the scenes: mosquito bites, ants taking hold of our leftover pizza, and a child who ate primarily sour candy for dinner.
Saturday
On Saturday, we went to the Children’s Museum. Ishu has been loving both of the climbing exhibits. He’s a daring little kid and I laugh when the other adults try to stand behind him because they’re worried he’s going to fall.
He never does. He’s my little monkey and was born to climb!
Behind the scenes?
Ishu was really upset when the museum closed and that escalated into him bolting out of the pavilion and running toward the crosswalk. So I abandoned our stroller and swooped him up. My stroller might have toppled over or hit a car. But, thankfully, another mama was there and ran after the stroller while I grabbed Ishu. As she handed it back to me, I was sweaty and on the brink of tears, and her words brought me so much comfort.
“I’ve been there.”
Sunday
As I mentioned above, we didn’t leave the house all day.
Ishu and I did this puzzle together with his dinosaur cards. And then he felt so proud, he wanted to take this picture of it.
Behind the scenes: He continued to take 85 pictures on my phone and I sat there, letting him scroll and dick around on my phone so I could finish this book I was reading.
And that’s it.
I don’t have a ton of pictures from the weekend.
Because I was mostly in survival mode.
So many high highs and really hard lows. But, with every low, I remind myself, “This child will be in school soon. You’ve done this for 2.5 years. What’s one more week?!”
I know I’m going to be emotional when I drop him off and I know we are both going to go through a period of adjustment. BUT MAN AM I READY. I simply cannot provide him with the amount of stimulation he needs in a day.
That being said, we are off to “SAR-BUCKS” so this mama can get through the day.
HAVE A GOOD ONE!
