Good morning from this mama who feels like a super bad-ass.
Instead of sticking around at home yesterday, I decided to leave the house with Bella and Ishu. They went to the park and I went to a coffee shop.
Since I didn’t have meetings, I didn’t need to be somewhere super quiet. And it was the best decision ever. Because, in the three hours I was there, I managed to knock out my entire to-do list for the week.
Obviously, there are going to be other things that get piled on once I have my meetings today and tomorrow, but MAN it felt so good to FOCUS and hammer away at all these tasks.
I think I’m going to do this more often.
Ishu has gotten accustomed to spending time with Bella. Sometimes when I show him her picture when she’s gone, he’ll smile and say, “Aw-tee Beyayaya.”
He still cries when she walks into our apartment because he associates her presence with me not being accessible. But the cry dies down and I think he actually does better when I’m NOT there.
So, I think I’m going to try this on days I don’t have meetings.
As I set up my laptop and notebook at the coffee shop window, I smiled and thought, “Now THIS is what I imagined my experience in Chicago to be.”
I imagined myself working away at various places in the city while also getting to connect with Ishu throughout my day. The best of both worlds. The “having my cake and eating it too” experience.
Now, the next challenge to tackle is fitting in a workout at some point. And Sunday food prep. I need to bring back the prep. I just purchased two instant pot cookbooks so hopefully that will inspire me.
One step at a time.
But we’re getting there.
Slowly but surely.
Question of the Day:
What’s your food prep situation?
Are you a cookbook person or a Pinterest person when it comes to planning meals?
[…] places are open up now. So when I DO need to leave the house to be a little more productive, I can hop on over to a coffee shop. Back in 2020, people weren’t given that option. It blows my mind to think of all things […]
