Yesterday, Sissy was walking to work and she slipped on the ice, fainted, and heard a bunch of cracking in her ankle as she was falling down. The amazing people of DC helped call an ambulance to take her to the ER and my mom IMMEDIATELY hopped on a plane to be with Sister.
I didn’t find out until 3 hours after it all happened. But, here are all the events that happened in between her falling and me finding out.
1) Sister is rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and calls my Dad to fill him in on the situation.
2) Sister’s friends rush to be with her so she’s not by herself.
3) Bhavna Didi books Mom a ticket so she’s on the next flight to DC.
4) Aurpapa gets out of an appointment and drives straight to Newport to pick Nani up now that my mom is going to be out of town.
5) Cousins text, call, Whats’app to keep everyone updated.
6) I finally call my Mom back around 10AM (3 hours after it all happened). Meanwhile, my Dad is on the phone with the ER doctor in DC just chatting away.
In other words, my family is amazing.
Sister is going to have to wear a boot for 6 weeks. But thank goodness that she is OK. And thank goodness my family is overbearing and all-up-in-our-face about everything. Because it’s so nice to know that, despite the fact that it was just a tear in her ankle (and not anything more severe), our family comes together so QUICKLY and so STRONGLY.
In other news, I had no desire to stay at work very late so I left at 4PM and called the family just to get some updates on Sissy. Since I had so much time to do real-life things, I went to the grocery store and got some supplies for dinner.
BethyV and I ate dinner while playing Oregon Trail and watching The Bachelor. A perfect way to end a whirlwind of a day.
Love you SISSY. Love you FAMILY. <3
