It’s Halloween week!
And, even though we’ve still got 3 days ’til the 31st, it feels like we’ve celebrated it one hundred times already.
Because our counter is covered with treats.
Our costumes are needing to be washed for the third time.
And it feels like eons ago when we bought these pumpkins sitting next to me.
I’ve never been a Halloween person before. I mean, I’d throw on an adult onesie because I worked at a school and, y’know, you gotta care a little bit. But, I never understood the appeal.
And now we have window stickers and bats taped to the wall and pumpkins all around this place.
Somehow, this holiday is growing on me.
Our weekend was filled with Halloween festivities. From start to finish.
On Friday, after we picked Ishu up from school, we went over to a friend’s building to watch Coco.
On Saturday, we went to the LSE parade and trick-or-treating event. Although, my kid stopped at two tables and was like ‘Can we go to the playground now?’ Ha. One thing about an event in the city is that it is most likely going to be PACKED.
So he did a couple tables, jumped in the bounce house, and then proceeded to run around the playground for the rest of the time. It was such a beautiful day. The sun hitting the grass. The leaves falling onto the ground. All the cutie cutie kids running around in costume.
I loved it.
Afterward, we drove over to Bucktown to celebrate Maria’s first birthday.
The sweetest, most chill baby. We finally got to meet her abuelo and abuela and that felt extra special. The tacos were delicious. But probably, my favorite part of the evening was watching Maria experience her first cupcake. We love a first birthday experience with a cake.
Sweetest little Pikachu.
On Sunday morning, we went over to Bennett for some trick-or-treating at the park.
A mama in the neighborhood planned such a fun event of trick-or-treating and piñatas for the kiddos. And it turned out to be such a beautiful day. We all layered our kids before heading out, and then needed to un-layer them because the sun was beating down on us so hard. (NOT at all complaining. It was GORGEOUS out).
We then walked over to the 900 shops for their trick-or-treating event. More than the trick-or-treating itself, I’m pretty sure the kids loved when – after lunch – they took over Aster Hall, crawling around, embodying their costumes.
It was chaos and craziness. But, I mean, when you plan an event for kids that includes getting and eating a lot of candy, whaddya expect?
We finished the day up at Bubbles and then came home and crashed hard.
What a wildly fun and exhausting weekend.
Grateful for all the fun things to do in Chicago. A beautiful neighborhood. This gorgeous fall weather. And the colorful trees that make my insides do a little happy dance every day.
I just love October so hard.
Have a happy week and happy Halloween!
