Good morning!
I’ve been up since 1:30am.
This time, it’s not Ishu’s fault. Ha.
I have been falling asleep when he goes to bed. So, the night before last, the two of us got some pretty solid hours in. And, last night? Well, apparently my body was like, “YOU DON’T NEED THIS MUCH SLEEP ANYMORE. GET UP!”
So, here I am.
Downstairs blogging. Watching this little monster on the monitor. Enjoying a bowl of cereal while everyone in this house is asleep.
I meant to pop in yesterday to share some pictures from the weekend, but I never got around to it. So, let’s do that now.
We had a great time celebrating Ann and Aakash this past weekend. They had to postpone their wedding three times because of COVID. They got engaged in 2017 so this was a long time coming. But definitely worth the wait.
Because Ankur worked an overnight shift from Wednesday to Thursday, he had the rest of Thursday off. So he also took Friday off to get a long weekend. And it was nice that it coincided with the wedding so he could partake in the celebrations too.
Though I’m sure he’s feeling pretty exhausted now that he’s back in Chicago and had to be up bright and early Monday morning. (Who are we kidding? Chicago is probably not ‘bright’ right now).
We attended the sangeet on Thursday night at their house. And then Saturday, the wedding and reception were at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach.
Ishu took the least amount of time to get ready, but of course, ended up looking the cutest out of all of us.
His Dadi got him this outfit for a family wedding we attended last May. He looked so sweet in it then, but he grew into it and, somehow, looks even cuter now.
On Sunday, we said our goodbyes to Ankur at the airport. Ishu cried. Though we’re unclear whether he cried because his papa left or because he took the suitcase with him. Suitcases are his jam these days.
Sunday evening was HALLOWEEN time!
And, though I was exhausted from the wedding festivities, and every part of me was screaming, “He’s not even going to remember this; it’s FINE if you stay home and pretend it’s a regular ol’ evening,” I got him dressed up and went up the hill to Anouk Didi’s house.
We went to three houses to trick or treat (one including Anouk Didi’s, hahah). And this little guy was way more fascinated with the doorbells and the balls in the garage than he was with the candy.
It was a much needed break for this mama as well because Anouk Didi took over. And, in her fun, playful way, she had Ishu wrapped around her finger. Which meant I got to sit down and eat food and RELAX for a while. Which was REAL NICE.
He had fun with the older kids, watching them playing piano, and going up and down and up and down the stairs. Over and over again.
All in all, I’d say it was a pretty successful Halloween celebration. For the both of us.
And now, we’re coming down from the craziness of the weekend. Back to work mode. As much as possible.
It’s in these moments I’m so grateful to be working a remote job this year. I can be with my family and work simultaneously. I can pop into Nani’s room in between meetings and give her a hug.
It’s real nice.
Now, I’m probably going to crawl back into bed and sleep for as long as Ishu will let me.
Hope you all had a great Halloween weekend!
