Good morning!
Riyu woke up around 4am and, after nursing him back to sleep, I hopped out of bed. I don’t usually do this. I don’t usually sacrifice sleep to have a quiet morning like this, but every time I do, I wonder why I don’t do this more often.
(Probably because it DOES require getting up at 4am because my kids are such early risers).
Anyway, it’s nice. And quiet. And the living room feels nice and cool because the temperature has dropped overnight and it feels perfect.
We’ve reached September. September is the best weather (in my opinion) in Chicago. And today will be proof of that.
Last year at this time, Riyu was still so itty-bitty so we didn’t really feel up to boppin’ around doing all the fall activities. But THIS year, we’ve got a one-year old so I can see some apple picking in our near future. I CANNOT WAIT.
Other than that, not much to report.
Ishu had a 5-day weekend.
I’ve been reading lots of books.
We’re all anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest member of our Malik clan.
We miss living near family. (Our babysitter came to watch the kids to give Ankur and I a few hours to ourselves. And, apparently, Ishu got to watch six episodes of Wild Kratts. He told me the exact animal episodes he watched and, sure enough, 3 HOURS OF TV. COOL). I just want a world where I can drop my kids off with their grandparents or Masis and Masus. Or, better, a world where I don’t *NEED* to take a break because we are living together and raising our kids in a way where we don’t feel burnout all the time.
Anyway, I should get up and moving.
I am feeling all the feelings this morning.
Gratitude and irritation all at the same time.
Ha.
OKAY MONDAY! Time to caffeinate and do this whole production all over again! BYE!
