Good morning!
We are more than halfway through our road trip and, so far, it’s been smooth sailing! Today, we drive the 8.5 hours from Wichita Falls, TX to Memphis, Tennessee!
I was able to upload some of my pictures, so I’ll do a brief recap of the past few days.
Monday:
We set off around 8AM and made our first stop in Tustin.
Since Gina was in town for the weekend, we met her at Kean Coffee right off the freeway for some caffeine and breakfast!
We also made sure to take another picture to add to the collection. Because we clearly don’t have enough of the two of us together.
It’s always fun seeing my favorite – especially when it was a complete surprise! I had no idea when I was going to see Gina next, so this stop made my weekend SO much happier!
Once we said our goodbyes, we were on our way to the Grand Canyon! We passed by the turnoff for Vegas and I wondered whether we should stop for a Fat Tuesday. I, naturally, turned to Snapchat to pose the question.
And it was a unanimous YES.
But by the time I counted up all the votes, we had already passed Vegas, so I settled for a homemade sandwich instead.
We got to the Grand Canyon right in time to see the sun set.
So we snapped a few pictures and watched the sky change colors. And then quickly hopped back into the car for 2 hours to get to our hotel in Flagstaff.
We didn’t get enough time at the Grand Canyon, so we decided to do the 4 hour detour (2 hours up, 2 hours down) to go back on Tuesday morning before heading to New Mexico.
We decided to explore a different part of the Rim Trail than we did on Monday night so we took the shuttle to one end and hiked back toward the visitor center.
Our hike was cut short by heavy rain and wind. But, we got a few miles in the books and it was definitely worth the 4-hour detour.
It was 9:30 by the time we reached New Mexico and we had no desire to go out and be fun, young, hip humans hanging out in the downtown/mid-town area. So, we looked up a burrito place and brought food back to the hotel.
California burritos. In New Mexico. Ironic.
It’s probably not the smartest, or healthiest, idea to fall asleep right eating a heavy meal. But, after our day full of driving and hiking, we were exhausted and couldn’t keep our eyes open.
The next morning, we hit the road early so we could spend as much time with this munchkin.
She’s talking SO much now. And she’s got everyone wrapped around her little finger.
Her Masi included.
So, you can see why the blog post was late to be published.
Because I’m trying to soak up every last minute with the family before we head off to Memphis!
So I’m signing off for now and will be back tomorrow morning!
Have a good one!
