Ankur finished his exam last weekend and he’s a free bird! He’s also on a lighter rotation this month and doesn’t have to go in until noon every day. Which means things feel lighter for ME as well.
It’s been so nice having him here in the mornings.
Yesterday, the three of us had the Encanto soundtrack playing and we did an Abs workout in the living room together. Ishu did some stretching with us and then he proceeded to put pom-poms on Ankur’s belly mid-workout.
And then we sat down and had breakfast together. We made scrambled eggs with veggies + chicken sausage. With a side of pineapple. It felt so calm and nobody was in a rush to be anywhere or do anything.
It’s nice getting this extra time with Ankur. But it’s also been nice to share the load once again. For a while there, I was having to do the Ishu things. But also the dinner things. And my own job things. The putting our house back together in the evening things.
And it all coincided with the week that Bella wasn’t here which just made me feel like I was drowning a little.
But, this week, I’m resurfacing and I feel a little better about life.
It’s so nice to have help.
Anyway, I was typing this all out not to vent, but to say that despite the fact that I was taking on most of the responsibilities in the house last week, there are two things I just don’t do.
And that is…
I take out the trash. But I leave the trash can without a bag. Putting the bag in is Ankur’s job. Always has been. Always will be.
And the other thing is I never restock the toilet paper. Ankur’s job. Today, tomorrow, for always.
So even though he was tunnel visioning last week, his autopilot was on and he was able to do the two things I’ll never do.
Ha.
I don’t know why I’m against it. It just feels like it’s always been Ankur’s thing.
But now? This week? We’re sharing the load (minus the garbage bag + TP. That’s his load and his load only). And all feels right once again.
Question of the Day:
Are there things that your partner/roommate takes on that you never have to think about? Or vice versa?
sandy says
You are too funny Divya.
You actually leave the garbage and toilet paper stuff out for Ankur to do. hahaha.
Do I get it correct……. certain things should be assigned to spouses and all need not be done by us “MOMS. Got it. Point Noted!!
