I’m obnoxious with the alliteration, I know. I just think ‘friends and fam’ sum up my week perfectly. I am so fortunate to have some time off before the whirlwind of work starts back up again and I’m definitely taking advantage of these last few days off with some of my favorites.
1) On Wednesday this week, the family and I made our way up to Venice to go see Hema’s Google/YouTube office (and, obviously, get ourselves some lunch while we were there).
It was so fun to see where the little munchkins been working all summer.
Not to mention, the campus itself is pretty magical.
They have some rule that they can’t be a certain number of feet away from food at any time.
Sounds like a dream workplace to me. Or, I’d just eat all the time and that could get pretty bad too.
2) One of the workouts on the half marathon training schedule this week was a hill interval run. I motivated myself by placing the coffee at the top of the hill.
Reward = one sip for every time you make it to the top. Genius.
3) On Monday, I got to see Rachel – one of my friends from grad school who is teaching in LA now. It had been a year since I had seen her (when we randomly bumped into each other at Joy’s bachelorette party in Vegas!). We went to The OC Mix in Costa Mesa and I tried Green Leaf for the first time. I also spent $20 on a salad for the first time ever. (And it probably won’t be the last time either. SO GOOD).
4) On Wednesday, I went to happy hour with Narty (one of my favorite friends from SAA!) at Charlie Palmer in South Coast Plaza. I also tried bacon covered dates for the first time ever. I had never heard of that concoction before, but I guess people put bacon on ALL the things nowadays.
5) Yesterday, I saw my old co-worker Liz (from when I worked at The Help Group in Culver City). It had been over two years since I’ve seen her, but it felt like no time had passed.
This is the only picture that I could find of us that was easily accessible. But it also sums up our friendship pretty well. 🙂
She took me to Hotel Erwin’s rooftop bar in Venice. Crazy how, even after 8 years of living there, there is so much to discover and see in LA.
6) Followed up the rooftop bar fun with a reunion with some of my favorites. Jen Mid (newly ENGAGED!!!), Andrew, Liang, and I went to Oscar’s Cerveteca in Venice. Some INCREDIBLE food, pretty shitty lighting, but quality time with some of the folks that make me feel the happiest.
7) Every time I sit down to write a blog post, my mom continues to ask me “Are you writing about your Tofurkey trip?” She thinks she’s hilarious.
Now I’m off to run some errands and make a quick pit-stop at Starbucks. This iced coffee obsession has hit me even harder since I went without it for 12 days.
Happy Friday. 🙂
