3) Before her and Bhaiya were married, Bhabhi used to be a teacher. She loved her students and loved all things education-related. Nothing much has changed since then. I have been witness to the way she has raised Veer over the past 4 years. I’ve seen her teach him his letters and his numbers. I’ve watched as he has developed such strong number sense because of the way she lets him PLAY. He moves water from one container to another and that helps him understand volume. He takes apart structures, only to put them back together again. Bhabhi knows that allowing kids to experiment is just as much of a learning experience as direct reading or math instruction. She was a teacher. And she still IS a teacher. (And I am one of her many students).
Fun Facts Friday: Bhabhi Edition
It has been a while since I’ve done this Fun Fact Friday thing.
And, what a day to bring it back. Today is Bhabhi’s birthday. So I dedicate this Fun Fact post to my friend, my mentor, my sister.
1) Bhabhi is from Canada. What that means is that she really likes hockey and she makes words like “about” and “sorry” sound funny. And there may have been a time – long, long ago – that she’s admitted to loving the Biebs. But these aren’t the only Canadian stereotypes she embodies. Bhabhi takes ‘polite’ and ‘respectful’ to a whole new level. She genuinely cares about every person she interacts with – whether they be a family member or a stranger she comes across at the grocery store. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her Canadian body.
2) Bhabhi likes Diet Coke. I like Diet Pepsi. We often get into arguments about which soda is tastier. Regardless, Bhabhi doesn’t let her personal opinions affect her hospitality. Every time the family shows up to Salinas for a weekend, the fridge and pantries are stocked with our favorite snacks, favorite drinks, and favorite adult beverages. She goes out of her way to get Sister’s favorite granola, Hema’s favorite quinoa, my favorite bottle of wine, etc. She is not only hospitable, but one of the best, most thoughtful humans I’ve ever come across.
4) Bhabhi and I have the same name. It’s like I was destined to follow in her footsteps. Since the day she married Tarun Bhaiya and became my sister, she has served as my mentor and I have attempted to emulate everything about her. We both share a love of children, yoga, wine, cooking, and doctor husbands (current and future). I know I will continue to look to her for guidance when I have children of my own one day.
Happiest of birthdays to you, my Bhabhi.
Thank you for bringing so much happiness and love into our lives.

Awwww! Divpivs. You both are the bestest. But today happens to be Divbahus birthday so she is special bestest. Wah. That was good English 😀
We love you Divbahu! The admiration and respect that the kids have for you as their BADI BHABHI is gonna take a lot out of Arjun Bhanu’s wives to emulate. It has taken sincere efforts and loads of selfless dedication into rooting yourself down within the family tree. Your “branches” Veer and Jiya already have your soft virtues in them that which will go a long way in spreading joy and fragrance ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
Have a very happy birthday my dear!
Enjoy yourself thoroughly! Chillax। 😋😋
