Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY! This week seemed longer than usual to me but that’s probably my body adjusting to being back at work again! I’m excited to have the weekend to sleep in, take naps, and stay in my bed. (Do you sense a common theme here?)
I’ll be back on Monday to report on the number of hours slept. Don’t even worry.
But, before I go, here are some fun things I’m loving from this past week. Feel free to play along in the comments.
1) Yesterday, my friend Nicole invited me to go to a STEP aerobics class. If you follow me on Snapchat (@eatteachblog), you’ve already seen what our steps looked like. Look at it. It’s a slab of wood. I think I even got a splinter when I went to go put it away.
But, all jokes aside, it was one of the BEST group classes I’ve ever taken. For starters, the class began with a remix of Justin Timberlake’s, “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” And the instructor was in her mid-60s but her energy level was out-of-control. She kept us pumped up and moving the whole time. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a workout so much.
I also loved that two people brought their young kiddos with them. And they just joined in on all the fun. It was so informal but such a great kick-in-the-pants. I’m going to feel this all over tomorrow.
2) There is SO MUCH SPACE at school. Not only do I have a classroom-sized office, but I also have this extra storage space in the back. I’m not used to having so much room. But I absolutely love it.
3) I’ve been obsessively using the Yeti that Bhav gave me on our road trip over here. I’m blown away by the fact that I can put hot coffee in there at 6AM and it will STILL BE HOT by 3PM. What?! If you’re a teacher, you know that drinking your coffee while it’s still hot is a rare experience because, once those kiddos show up, you put your mug down and find it 5 hours later tasting not-so-hot. Well, the Yeti fixed that for me. And I LOVE IT.
4) Hello Fresh wins a point over Blue Apron for me this week. They acknowledge the fact that some people want to snack while they’re cooking. So they give you extra ingredients so you can munch while you’re making the actual meal. Yesterday, I made the Israeli couscous which requires oven-roasted chickpeas. But the recipe only required half the amount. Which made ME a happy camper.
So much to love this week.
Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!
