Friday Favs for June 27

I’ve been starting and restarting this series since 2012 when I first started blogging. It falls away. And then I read someone else’s Favorite Things and I feel inspired to pick it up again.

It’s fun to see how it’s evolved over time.

My previous favs used to be things like all the wine. And now, well, things are different.

Here are a few of the things making me happy lately!

The Good Hang Podcast

A few weeks ago, my friend Emily sent me a podcast episode that reminded her of a conversation we’d had. It was the one with Amy Poehler and Michelle Obama—and it hooked me immediately. I went back to the very first episode with Tina Fey, and now I’m fully in. It’s laugh out loud funny, and I’ve realized how much I need that kind of lightness in my day. I haven’t been listening to podcasts much recently, but I’ll definitely be keeping up with this one!

Homegrown Fruit

Aurpapa (#BajajOrchards) has been growing all sorts of fruits and veggies for years. He has the greenest of green thumbs in the family—from avocados and blackberries to plums, zucchini, and even CHRISTMAS TREES. Okay, I’m half joking about the trees, but one year he added Tylenol to the tree water (some sort of trick?) and it was the most lush and fragrant Christmas tree I’ve ever seen. Right now, the blackberries are in full swing and they’re absolutely delicious. Honestly, everything he grows is.

My Brumate Tumbler

Okay, I know. I’ve been through a number of tumblers over the last year alone. From my Stanley to the HydroJug to Simple Modern to this one from Brumate. And I think we have a winner. It’s leakproof. It’s easy to clean. It fits in a cupholder. It’s 40 oz. It’s delightful. (If you can’t tell, I definitely have a preference for a tumbler with a straw and a handle).

The Rumi Oracle Cards

I’ve pulled Goddess cards several times over the past month and I’m reminded how much I love them. When we pulled them out at the birthday dinner a few days ago, Melissa told me she had the Rumi Oracle cards set and I immediately had to order them. It is spiritual and poetic and beautiful and everything my soul needs right now.

Costco Water Table

The mornings here are a little chilly so we haven’t used the table ’til THIS morning. But it seems like a pretty good purchase. If we can bunch up Ishu’s swim and karate classes into the morning, I see a summer rhythm forming: afternoons of splashing in the water table while I sneak in a little reading time. Win-win.

Badi Nani Time

We went to Chino Hills yesterday so Ankur could see Nani before he heads back to Chicago. I’m already looking forward to our three-day sleepover in July. The best thing about a multi-generational home is just how SPECIAL it is for all the people involved. For Nani. For the babies. For all of us in between. So looking forward to the beautiful chaos and love that fills those days. <3

And that’s the joy of these lists. They serve as a snapshot of this season.

What’s making me laugh. What’s grounding me. What’s growing in the backyard (literally and figuratively). Life shifts. Kids shake things up. Tastes change.

But the practice of pausing to name the good things? That never gets old. <3

‘Til next time!
