Well, despite his 14 months living on this planet, it was Ishaan’s FIRST DAY in the pool yesterday.
We held off for this long because 1) we didn’t know how the chlorine would suit his skin when he was a wee baby and then 2) Ankur’s schedule got busy and I didn’t want his first time to be without his papa!
But we finally did it.
We assumed he would love it based on how much he loves bath time. And we assumed correctly.
He love love loved it and he didn’t mind being dunked under water a few times.
It probably helped that everyone around him was having so much fun and cheering him on.
And Savage Love was being played through the speakers on repeat.
And also water + sunshine are his two favorite things. So the two of them combined must have been SO EXCITING.
After pool time, we were all spoiled with Dr. Chef’s homemade pizzas (Instagram account coming soon) and some delicious “street corn” type thing made by Aurps.
Our tummies were well fed.
We left a little before 7 to get home in time because someone was coming over to buy our TV. And Masi and Aurps followed us back home – in their own car – to help us pack up the car.
As I look around the empty apartment right now, I am in disbelief at how much they managed to help us last night.
From disassembling the crib to packing up the car so nicely, they made this move so much easier than it would have been with us alone (and a toddler who likes to get into everything).
They, similarly, helped us pack up our car when we moved to Tennessee five years ago. Vacuum sealing everything so perfectly so we were comfortable for our cross country trip.
It makes me cry as I type this out. To think about how lucky we are to have family who put in so much time and energy and effort to make sure we are all packed up and prepared to head to Chicago.
Masi and Aurps – if you are reading this, we love you “itna sara” and no words will ever convey how lucky we are to have you!
Loved getting to spend the day with our family yesterday. I want a million more days like that one.
We are going to cry so many tears on Saturday when we say our final goodbyes. But so grateful to hold onto memories like yesterday.
