Good morning world!
Just got back from drop-off. And, as far as drop-offs go, this one was the most peculiar. Haha. Ishu’s so particular about things being a certain way. I know that’s true of most toddlers, but today’s whole scenario really made me laugh.
Yesterday, after I picked him up, we went over to the park.
He was pretty grumpy for most of the time we were there (I actually had to bribe my park-loving kid to go to the park. He was adamant about going home). I chalked it up to him not getting enough sleep the night before.
But, on the walk home yesterday evening, he was asking for another Starburst. And I explained that we gotta take care of our teeth and our tummies and why TOO much candy may not be the best of ideas.
To which he responded, “And then I’ll lose my teeth and be like a bird?”
So then I said, “Maybe. It’d be sad if you didn’t have any teeth to chew things with!”
“And then I have to eat like a bird?” he asked.
“Maybe. And do you know birds eat worms?” I said in response.
He stayed quiet for a bit and then turned around in the stroller and said, “SAY SOMETHING ELSE MAMA.” Because he did not like the inference of him having to eat worms some day in his future due to rotten teeth.
Am I screwing up my child?
I MEAN, THE QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS COME FIRING AT ME SO FAST. I ONLY HAVE A FEW SECONDS TO THINK ABOUT HOW TO RESPOND. IT IS SO HARD TO SAY THE RIGHT THING.
So now my child might be going to school today and sharing some information about his mom is going to feed him worms.
Great.
Fabulous.
Mom of the year award, am I right?
