Hello, hello!
Ankur and I drove back to Moreno Valley yesterday in the late afternoon. Ishaan slept the entire drive and woke up right as we pulled into the apartment complex. He looked around and said, “Ba-pa.” Which is likely because he associates this apartment with our return to Ankur. Forgetting that Ankur was sitting in the front seat the entire time.
It’s been 12 days since we’ve been back here. I opened up the door and looked down at him as he ran inside and said, “Do you even remember this place?”
He immediately ran toward his balls and whatever toys were left in the apartment and started playing. 12 days away means these toys are NEW toys!
Which was perfect because then Ankur and I had a chance to put all our things away and start the packing process.
We did a little last night and I just now finished loading the car up with things.
And now I’m sitting down, taking a quick break. The baby is still napping so thought I’d upload some photos from the weekend.
We really put off all the planning and organizing and packing. Partially because we still need so many of the things and we didn’t want to pack them away. But partially because we were prioritizing time with the family. Feels like things will eventually get done. But we didn’t want to rush back here to check off a to-do list when these are our final days with the fam.
Saturday
We got to see Drew and Sister one more time on Saturday before they left for SoCal. We made bagel sandwiches for breakfast and then said our final goodbyes. Yes, tears were shed. Yes, there were a lot of them.
Shortly after they left, we made a trip to Costco to get my tires checked. And, while we waited, picked up some groceries. Croissants are Ishaan’s newest interest so we had to get a box of those.
When we got back home, we went next door for Monica and Dag’s baby shower. We are slowly getting back into socializing at large(r) events and I’m always so interested to see how Ishaan approaches it all.
But, turns out if there’s music playing and balloons to be played with, he’s a pretty happy camper.
And so many other babies running around to watch.
The party was jungle themed and the cake was BEAUTIFUL. (Made by Gourmet Yogi if anyone is an Orange County local and looking for a great catering option or someone to make fun cakes!).
It’s so crazy to me that we’re all growing up and creating this new generation of babies that will (hopefully) grow up together and be friends!
We left a little early to go pick up my car after the tires got changed. And, by the time we got back home, Ishaan was pooped (and had pooped) and was ready to pass out.
Sunday
Sunday was Fathers Day! And Ishaan gifted Ankur with a 3am wakeup. Eventually, he fell back asleep and we all slept in until 8am.
My dad had already left for work. But Nanima was craving pancakes so we put Ankur to work and he was happy to make pancakes for us all. Not exactly a Fathers Day treat for him, but we made up for it at lunch. He just makes the yummiest, fluffiest pancakes. FROM SCRATCH.
We still haven’t given him his Fathers Day card (which is actually PROBABLY what I should have been doing during the baby’s nap). But he’ll get that today.
An extended Fathers Day celebration for the best father to Ishu.
I’ll be back here to share the card after we give it to him because it’s TOO CUTE and too perfect for Ankur not to share.
Anyway, I’m going to get working on that card now.
Be back tomorrow!
