Howdy from Salinas!
I drove out here on a whim last night because I was missing the Bajaj Jrs. SO much and it’s been a while since I’ve had a free weekend.
But before I did that, I hung out with a couple of other little ones after work.
One of our kiddos has been OBSESSED with his new video game and talks about it non-stop. For the past two weeks, he’s been asking me to come watch him play so I swung by there after work for a little bit while he told me all about all the things.
That was probably the highlight of my week. No matter what I end up doing, no matter where I end up working, no matter what life has in store for me – I will always be a part of this one’s life. I can’t imagine my life without him in it!
After I hung out with him and his family for a little, I went over to Barnes & Noble for our Family Night.
I think it might be my favorite thing EVER to watch children get ridiculously excited over books.
I was feeling pretty tired at the end of the day yesterday and I wasn’t 100% set on going, but I’m so glad I ended up stopping by. I love our school and I love our network’s relentless effort to build communities and partnerships with families when it comes to our kids.
After B&N, I drove over to Salinas (note to self: the 101 freeway is really dark at night) and was greeted with delicious drinks and fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies. Am I lucky or what?
We chatted for a bit, but I eventually fell asleep on the couch (per usual) and then got dragged to bed. I slept perfectly and woke up early to surprise the baby, but he wasn’t too surprised. I’m going to take that as a compliment and assume it’s because I’m no longer a surprise since we’re basically neighbors. We ate some eggs + fruit + oatmeal for breakfast and then got ready to go to the park.
Veer loves the slides way more than the swings.
I was definitely more of a swing baby. I still am.
When we got home, we fingerpainted for a little bit. Most of the paint ended up on our hands and feet, but that’s because we’re true artists.
After our painting session, we ate some lunch. Rice + daal for Veer. And salad bar for us! 🙂
And then, after lunch, we spent some time in the backyard since it was sunny and BEAUTIFUL outside. Veer and Bhabhi tried to make some grass bracelets….
…while I tried to start our book club book. I’ve got two more weeks and I’m only 20 pages in. Oops.
After the baby went to bed, we went to work on some pizza for dinner.
I’ve been nice and spoiled today with some delicious homemade food (Thank you Bhabhi!). Now, it’s time to watch some Jimmy Fallon and, quite possibly, fall asleep in the next half hour.
Good night! 🙂
