Yesterday, we did a $5 family date at a local cupcake shop near us.
We picked Ishu up from school and walked over to Molly’s Cupcakes. I had reserved a $4.99 Too Good to Go Order. (Too Good to Go is an app that connects you to restaurants and stores that have surplus unsold food. And they sell that unsold food for real cheap compared to their regular prices. So, at Molly’s, day-old cupcakes get sold for a fraction of the price. And they pretty much taste the same as same-day cupcakes, so y’know, who’s buying full price cupcakes anymore?!).
We’ve been hermits for a while. Sickness, weather, workload. All the things have had us cooped up inside. So we just wanted to do something easy, but different. Plus, I had a meeting at 5. So also wanted to do something that would allow me to be home in time for it.
And I knew Mollys had board games for kids.
So it felt like a perfect after-school activity.
So, for five bucks, we spent the rainy afternoon playing Jenga and Memory.
Even the baby was enjoying the change in scenery.
Anyway, I’ve gotta find more stuff like that. Stuff that allows us to stick to our routine but also not get SO STUCK THAT WE FEEL STIR-CRAZY.
Okay, I was supposed to type this up in the morning.
But, y’know, life.
So, g’nite. Sweet dreams. Download the Too Good to Go app. Help fight food waste. And eat cupcakes.
The end.
