Yesterday, Ishu did something so cute and I told Ankur, “This is my favorite thing he’s doing these days,” and then as I pulled out my computer to write about it this morning, I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS.
I feel like the rate at which he says and does the funny things is way faster than the rate at which I can document them. And it is KILLING me right now that I can’t remember. So, before I forget the other things, let me write them down.
Lately, he’s been mimicking us non-stop.
But not in the parrot-kinda way.
More in the “I’m gonna hold that word or phrase in my brain and then spit it back at you in the same context later on” way.
When Ankur gets home, I usually ask him how his day was. But it’s the first check-in. The initial, superficial, “Fine.” Or, “Good.” Or, “Long.” And then he’s usually pulled into whatever we’ve got going on. Or I will then let him be with Ishu while I get dinner started. And then when we are all seated at the dinner table, I’ll breathe out and ask Ankur again, “So, how was your day?” expecting a longer, more detailed account of his day.
Well, last weekend, when Ishu was at the table eating a meal or finishing up breakfast, I could hear him from the other room.
“Sooo, how your day?”
Ha.
Ankur wasn’t at the table.
He was just practicing on a phrase that he had heard at this table. And it made me giggle so much.
He’s also loving Milano cookies. He calls them “Moano” cookies. A mash-up between Moana and Milano and that also gives us a good chuckle every time.
Now I’m going to sign off and think real long and hard about what was making me go all heart-eyed yesterday when he was doing it.
Or maybe I’ll just hope he does it again and then I’ll remember.
Man, the toddler stage is so freaking EXHAUSTING but also…
Well…I almost started to type “memorable,” but that ain’t it considering the cute thing flew outta my brain in minutes.
It’s exhausting and entertaining. All at the same time.
How about that?
