Good morning and happy Monday!
Ankur had to work this weekend, but Ishu and I had a weekend of fun adventures together.
Friday
Ishu attended his first Easter egg hunt at One Bennett Park. He definitely didn’t understand the concept of an egg hunt. And was much more interested in running up and down the grassy hill. It was also rainy and lasted all of 15 minutes. But we went, we did the thing, and we came home with little trinkets and his first ever lollipop.
He’s a fan.
(I am too. It takes forever for him to open up a single egg. And then he was so fascinated with whatever object or candy was IN the egg. And there were 15 eggs! THAT IS A LOT OF DOWN TIME FOR MAMA. I, obviously, saved these plastic eggs to refill them with things for a day I want to sip my coffee in peace).
Saturday
On Saturday morning, we took advantage of the sunshine and took his scooter for a walk. Yes, I said it correctly. “Took his scooter for a walk.” Different than the expected “rode the scooter,” because we haven’t reached that point yet. I mean, occasionally, yes. He’ll ride it for 3-4 seconds until he runs into a wall or the end of the sidewalk. And then he’s back to walking the thing.
Despite not being able to fully use it the way it’s intended to be used (yet), he loves this thing and wants to take it everywhere with him. It makes trips to the bathroom with us. Trips to the kitchen. I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to bring it in the bed with us.
After his nap, we went to the Children’s Museum. The museum – along with the rest of the Navy Pier area – was PACKED. It fills me with equal parts excitement and dread. Excitement because the best part of the year is coming! And dread because that means this place will be crowded with tourists. It’s already begun. So many selfies being taken by people who have to-go cocktails in their hand. You KNOW those aren’t locals who are ordering those overpriced $16 drinks!
Sunday
Yesterday morning, Ishu and I went back to the Children’s Museum to go through the exhibits with a little less crowd. (Lot less crowd because everyone was probably doing Easter brunches). He spent some time in the Pritzker Playspace – my favorite room in the whole museum! He still calls it “Yola’s room” even though she doesn’t work here anymore!
When we got home, he napped while Ankur and I finished The Amazing Spiderman 2. And then I also finished up a report for a meeting I have today.
In the evening, we all took Ishu’s stroller for a walk. And then ended up at Starbucks for a pink cake pop and some string cheese.
We finished off the day with some Curious George and leftover Thai food. I also finished this book I was reading. Page turner, but also relatively disappointing at the end.
I cancelled my Kindle Unlimited subscription. So I’m trying to read as many of the books I’ve got before they disappear from my Kindle in two weeks.
So many books, so little time!
Now I’m off to get the day started. Be back mañana!
