Our sweetest little baby survived the visit to the lab. And so did his mama.
Our primary doctor referred us to an allergist because Ishaan broke out into a slight rash after having both egg and peanut butter.
The allergist told us that they sounded mild and he would most likely grow out of it. But, to be safe, she suggested us run some tests.
This was at a diagnostic lab and not at a hospital, so Ankur and I thought we would both get to go inside with him. But right after they called him inside, they told us only one would get to accompany him.
I wasn’t mentally prepared to support Ishaan without the support of Ankur so I immediately said, “Okay, you go.”
Ankur has been the person with him for most of his vaccine appointments while I hung out in the car. This time, I remained in the waiting room and MY GOD, I should have left the building. I could hear him crying and crying and crying the entire time. Fortunately, I was the only one in the waiting room so nobody saw me pacing in circles with an empty stroller, tears running down my face.
It is quite possibly the hardest thing to hear your baby in pain and not be able to scoop him up and comfort him.
At one point, I could actually see them through a teeny crack in the door. I saw Ishu’s hand clinging onto Ankur’s shirt, all the while hearing his screams and cries.
All they had to do was collect a vial of blood so it only lasted a few minutes. Thank goodness.
We walked out of the building together and he was still crying and sniffly and not a happy camper.
So, before putting him in the car seat, we had a mini dance party in the parking lot. To Jason Derulo’s Savage Love. His new favorite song.
It’s so funny to watch how – no matter his mood – the moment that music comes on, he will start dancing. Even if he goes back to crying a couple seconds later. It’s like this natural instinct to immediately start moving his hands to the music.
I love it, I love it, I love it.
Eventually, he calmed down. And we were able to buckle him into his car seat. When the three of us got home, he immediately fell asleep next to Ankur for hours.
He was doubly pooped from the previous day’s adventures and an early morning blood draw.
What a resilient little kid.
Now we’re both in Newport until tomorrow. I have an early morning interview on Friday so I’ll hopefully spend a good chunk of today preparing for it! God bless grandparents.
Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Aw, poor little guy!! I love that he wants to dance when music plays, even if he’s still upset.
Good luck with your interview!
