I haven’t been to Disneyland since October 2010. You’d think I would frequent the place more often since it’s a hop, skip and a jump from where I grew up, but HELLO – at $99 a ticket, ain’t nobody got money for that.
With Sister and her bestie, Megan, home for the holidays, though, we made an exception. And boy, are we glad we did. Sister and Megan watched a Buzzfeed video and were determined to unlock all of D-land’s secrets (or at least, the 13 of them outlined in the video). They pulled me and Lauren, Megan’s younger sister, into the mix, making for our first Sister-Sister (and Mommy!) outing.
And with Megan in charge of the day’s agenda, we dominated Disneyland (obvi).
1) We packed half-eaten muffins, Cuties, and yogurt covered pretzels in our backpacks.
2) We were really efficient with our Fast Pass selection. And, when we did have to wait in line, we kept ourselves busy by counting the number of kids dressed up as Elsa (48!) and playing Heads Up!
3) Megan and Sissy don’t like breaks, but they were forced to pause for afternoon coffee. Definitely upped my energy for the remainder of the afternoon (and gave us time to pose for selfies. Now, if only I had a selfie stick…).
4) According to Buzzfeed, the orange teacup with diamonds spins the fastest, so naturally, that’s the teacup we chose. Not sure if Buzzfeed is the Disneyland gospel, but I sure as heck felt nauseous when we stumbled out of our teacup.
5) We paid a visit to the Abominable Snowman – turns out, he’s still as scary as he was when I first rode the Matterhorn.
6) We witnessed an engagement and created our own.
7) We used the new slow-mo feature on the iPhone 6 to create videos that make us look like bad asses (read: ridiculous).
8) We strategized to avoid the “splash” on Splash Mountain.
9) We experienced Disneyland in all its Christmas glory.
10) We got buttons for celebrating LIFE (AND Lauren’s birthday!).
We had a kick-ass time. Not because of the things we did or the secrets we unlocked. But because we were in the best company. To many more Sister-Sister (and Mommy!) outings in 2015…
