HAPPY FRIDAY.
Ankur’s got his final fellowship interview this morning (WAHOO!) and we’ve got a couple Halloween-y things on the agenda this weekend.
Ishu has requested to be a Komodo dragon for Halloween and, seeing as there isn’t a lot of option for “Komodo dragon” on Amazon (and I’m not trying to be a creative Pinterest mom over here), we ordered this PJ Masks superhero costume with a tail.
And it turns out that if you CALL something a “Superhero Komodo Dragon” costume, your 3-year old will believe you.
So he’s wearing that and he’s pretty jazzed about it.
This week has had all the ups and downs.
I’ve felt the challenges of having two little humans needing my attention at the same exact moment.
And then I’ve also seen the beauty of Ishu being a big brother. Last night, we were sitting together doing a dinosaur craft and he kept showing Riyaan what he was making.
“But don’t worry,” he said. “I’ll protect you. Dinosaurs are ‘instinct,’ you know?”
I’ve also felt the challenge of being the mama. The parent who evokes the most reaction from my little guy.
And at the same time, felt the support and love from my partner. Reminding me that it isn’t necessarily what I am doing, but the fact that I am this kids’ mama. His person. The place he can fall apart.
So, yes.
All the beautiful highs and lows of parenthood.
It’s so sweet.
And so hard.
All at the same time.
I’m running on very little sleep over here. Our apartment building has turned the heat on for the winter. And, with the temperatures being a bit warmer, our master bedroom has felt so stuffy even with the window open. And there ain’t nothing I can do about it. So the baby and I feel sticky and gross this morning.
I’m not upset about the warmer temps right now. (Especially not when I can see the temps dropping to the 30s and 40s next week!). I’m just saying this mama might need a nap in the other room at some point today. 🙂
Hope you have a happy Friday! Any fun plans for the weekend? What’re YOU going to be for Halloween?

I feel you on the heat – Our building heat was turned on too…. we have a wall unit AC that I have had to run to keep the temps at something bearable. But now that it’s cooler outside, the AC went off.
Hang in there! Stay magical!

Sending Ishu and Riyus beautiful mama all the love and strength.
Hope she gets some extra sleep this weekend.
Enjoy the fun things you have planned for the family.
