Every single day we walk Ishu to school, we pass by an Irish Pub called D4. Ishu took a liking to the name and will call it A1, B2, C3, all the way to Z26. Get it?
Anyway, we’ve told him we would take him there for dinner some day. He really seemed to be interested in the library in there. We occasionally get a glimpse of the shelves of books through the windows and he always seems excited at the prospect of getting to eat in there. (As much as my kid can get excited about sitting down to eat something).
So, yesterday, on a whim, we left the baby home with Sylvie and decided to take Ishu to D4 for dinner.
I mean, this kid definitely gets the most attention as it is. I laugh when I think about how the baby can be in a room playing independently for some time while both of us are tending to Ishu about something. But I think there’s something special about giving him that intentional time with the two of us. Not having to split our attention (even IF the split is 80/20, ha).
It’s good for Ishu. But it’s also good for me.
This kid is growing up so dang fast and, even though the milestones are few and far between as they get older, I still don’t want to miss a thing.
I feel like we’re pretty good about giving him 1:1 time with each parent. But it was nice, yesterday, to carve out some time for just us three.
Hoping we can continue doing this – for both the kiddos – always!

Nice to read that Ishu can do the A1B2C3 count. So effortlessly. Brilliant kiddo. ♥️
