In February or March, while the three of us were sitting around our dining table, we casually brought up baby brother again.
“When baby brother is here, all four of us will be sitting at the table together. Where should we put baby brother’s high chair?” I asked Ishu.
“Oh! Mama can sit there,” he starts by pointing to my seat, “Papa can sit there. I can sit here. Baby brother can sit here…”
“…and baby brother’s mama can sit here. And baby brother’s papa can sit there,” he finished.
Ankur and I looked at each other and laughed.
We knew – at that point – he still didn’t understand what it meant to have a little brother. But it was so cute watching his brain try to absorb it all.
We did our best to explain it then. Maybe that’s the day he figured out he’d have to share us. Or maybe it happened somewhere along the way. But, again, the difference between back then and now – in terms of his understanding – is HUGE.
One more week.
One more week ’til baby brother will be in our arms!
