Thanks to everyone who sent good wishes for yesterday’s interview!
The interview was scheduled for 7am. And, even though I’m usually up at 3am these days, I had to set an alarm. Because, of course, knowing my luck, it would be the one time Ishu and I slept in until past 7.
I realized it had been over a YEAR since I set an alarm for myself. Again, my baby wakes me up at 3am constantly. So it’s not like I’m just livin’ that sloth lifestyle.
But I haven’t had to be anywhere or do anything that early.
So, when I went to set my alarm, I fumbled around on my phone for a few minutes wondering what app I used to set my alarm. I started typing “Alarm” into the search box. It took me a good minute to remember that I just had to go to the Clock app.
ANYWAY.
I’m learning how to be a real person again.
Moving on.
As planned, Ishu and I spent a good chunk of the day outside. It’s all he wants to do these days. He says “baaa” and heads for the door constantly. (He’s attempting to say “baahar” which means “outside” in Hindi).
After the interview, we went on our usual walk to Starbucks for some celebratory coffee (for me) and celebratory string cheese (for Ishu). Then we stopped at the park on the way home so he could swing a little and stumble around.
He had so much fun watching the dogs (saying BOBO, BOBO!) and people passing by. At one point, a man jogged past him and waved hello to Ishu. He thought it was the funniest thing. He giggled and started running after the man. Until he realized he’s just a wee tot and couldn’t keep up.
Then, we walked back home and went to run an errand with my mama.
Like a true Nani, she had his sweet potato ready to go in a Tupperware and sat in the back seat to feed him while I drove.
We got back around noon and he was so exhausted that he fell asleep for 3 hours. Which was great for me because I finally caught up on all my unread e-mails.
When he woke up, we spent some more time outside in the front yard.
I was laying out on the grass and Ishu was doing everything possible to avoid the grass. He was lingering near the gate and saw a family pass by. He stuck his arm through the gate and waved at the kids. The older one, about 3 years old, gave him a flying kiss which made him giggle. And he kept standing at the gate, repeating, “Jai jai. Jai jai.”
He seems to be craving social interaction and it is, again, reassuring me that he will be okay at daycare. Even if not right away. He will be okay. And I will be okay.
It’s going to be hard. But we will all be okay.
Question of the Day:
Are you a phone alarm clock person? Or a real alarm clock person?
ShootingStarsMag says
I think he’ll be okay too! He sounds like a very sociable child. I get that it’ll be an adjustment though.
I hope your interview went well!
And I use a regular alarm clock most days. I really only use my phone alarm if I’m not sleeping at home.
