Good morning friends!
We are almost halfway through the week and I am ready for it to be over. This cold, frosted-windshield thing is already old and we haven’t even gotten through Fall. In other news, I’ve become the topic of conversation at work. People love hearing all the stories about how the Californian is adjusting to this eastern Tennessee weather.
(Confession: I purchased one of these scrapey things on Amazon thinking I’d fit right in. Turns out, people just turn their defroster on 30 minutes before they leave the house. I’m such an outcast).
But, before I sign off to go turn my car on, let’s continue with the theme and share some additional confessions from this past week, shall we?
Confession:
This past weekend, Katy, Kasey, and I went to a local winery (surprise! They exist!) on Saturday afternoon. We all signed up for a $5 tasting, but after the 2nd tasting, the wine got a little too sweet for my liking. (Muscadine is real BIG over here in the south. These folks just love their sweet stuff).
Luckily for me, I brought a wine cooler filled with my own wine. California wine. With California grapes. Cause I’m a Californian. See that maroon cooler in the back? (Gina gave it to me as a present! You can find a similar one here on Amazon). That bag contained two bottles of wine and I was a sneaky pants and drank it on another winery’s property. Oops. #SorryNotSorry
Confession:
Ankur and I have been watching Teen Jeopardy at 7:30 every evening. I’m not a teen. I’m not even in my 20s anymore. Yet I can’t seem to answer any question past the $200 value ones.
Confession:
A lot of people are more effective at remembering information if they are able to explain it to somebody else. This means, that on nights before the exams, I become a medical school student. I learn all about glycolysis and metabolism and nor-epinephrine and ALL the things. But, sometimes, I sit there quietly and smile and nod while I’m SECRETLY listening to a podcast in one ear.
Confession:
Over the weekend, I made a general meal plan for the week to make sure I didn’t let food rot in the back of our refrigerator. Monday was supposed to be Butternut Squash Risotto. Tuesday was supposed to be Turkey Meatballs with Risotto.
Instead, Monday was crackers, cheese, and turkey pepperoni. And Tuesday was a glass of wine. #GrownUps
Questions of the Day:
- What did you eat for dinner last night?
- Do you like trivia? Jeopardy?
- Do you meal plan or play it by ear?
- ‘FESS UP! Tell me a secret.

Lol, your weekly menu was a case of fantasy meet reality in a big way. I never have to scrape my windscreen, we don’t even get frost where I live. Oh and it is summer now, for like the next 8 months, just saying!
valmg @ Mom Knows It All says
I do try to meal plan, it can save a lot of money. I just have to remember to defrost meat. And try getting a scraper with a brush on the end, they’re great.

I try my best to stick to our meal plan but it always gets sidetracked by something else – like a meeting to attend, a nanny that did not arrive, or no one home but me. My husband love Jeopardy and he can answer most of the questions in the game. He says his brain is just full of useless trivia. LOL.

Laughing about the winery visit and you bringing your own wine. You should come visit Texas–our wines are becoming quite renowned!

I love trivia and quizzes – my Dad is amazing at general knowledge quizzes so I always try to take him along whoever I go!

I meal plan, but rarely stick to it. Sometimes I stick to the plan 3 nights in a row and am so proud of myself I give myself the rest of the week off and we live on sandwiches. I am good at making weird yet delicious meals from leftovers though – last week I put leftover risotto in a dish, put mashed potato on top and some grated cheese and baked it. It was LUSH, but also one of those meals that I daren’t tell my mum I made 😀

Love your confessions! Meal plans – I fill the freezer/fridge up with Food then the meals are planned around what is in there … I food shop roughly once every 2 weeks so by the end of the 2nd week our meals are really basic… !!

We had stuffed peppers last night. I make a weekly meal plan too and usually do follow it. But I try to make double batches of stuff and freeze one of the meals for nights when I’m too tired to cook.
No, don’t like Jeopardy. It makes me feel stupid.
Elizabeth @ Ellie and Elizabeth says
I meal plan but learned that I have to buy only for a couple of meals at a time because our plans change on a whim and then I’m left with a weeks worth of food rotting. Monday was chicken divan casserole, Tues. beef stew. Tonight we eat at church so if hubby wants leftover beef stew instead, he’s got it! Then I go to the store again on thurs. for that night and friday. Sat and sun are usually eat out nights WHOOO HOOO! Love your confessions…

I had Mexican casserole last night for dinner. I’m not big on trivia but I like Wheel of Fortune lol. I want to learn how to meal plan but since it’s just me and my dad and my cat, we just play it by ear.

haha! I had all of these grand plans for roasted acorn squash, eggs, and a brussels sprouts and cabbage hash for dinner last night. Instead, I prepped the squash and ate plantain chips with guac and leftover coleslaw for dinner. 😉

Fun post! My husband and I take turns cooking dinner — the other one does the dishes. So I have a general plan in mind in the morning of my cooking days. We are usually stocked up on things.

We normally end up winging dinner!! What a fun cooler, I haven’t seen one made just for wine bottles before like that!

We had spaghetti for dinner last night. It was so tasty that my son asked for second serving. Haven’t played trivia games for a long while. I don’t remember ever plan dinner, it all depends on my mood and what’s in the fridge. Hahaha!

I think it’s nice to post something like this at least once a week! It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a winery! I love planning meals too, the problem is following through with the plan, lol!

I fail at meal planning. I plan for a few things to fix over the course of the week, but can’t plan for each day. LOL on your alternate dinners!

Too cute! I love your confessions. My dinner last night was steak…broiled in the oven, bc when I went outside to grill it and discovered I’d run out of propane. *sigh* I love trivia, but had no idea Teen Jeopardy was a thing. I don’t meal plan, but I do meal PREP so I’ll have items handy to grab when I need them.
A secret? hmmm… I’m pretty much an open book. lol

Meal plan? What’s that? It does help that I am single. I’m sitting here trying to remember what I had for dinner last night–think it was a piece of steak on a roll. Confession–well my doctor is always asking me hat I ate since I am diabetic–and I can never ever remember. I guess it doesn’t mean that much to me!

Ahhhh hubby and I try to stick to our meal plan, but we love eating out so much that we end up splurging more than we should

Jeopardy is a fun show, I watch it from time to time. I am able to memorize things better when I write them down instead of discussing it with people, we really have different learning curves and it’s quite fascinating.

Last night for dinner I had a Thai curry of bamboo shoots with a coconut milk base. I prefer to plan meals because I want to have the freshest ingredients. Haven’t done trivia in a while, but we had the 80’s edition of Trivial Pursuit as a kid, and I must say I usually dominated the competition. 🙂
