These are my confessions…
Because I flew back to SoCal yesterday, my confessional post is all about the airport and my flight. What I did. What I thought. What I panic about. All the things that run through my mind as I fly around the world.
I mean, I’m pretty open about my fear of flying. But, maybe this will give you a little insight into my brain.
Let’s start out with a positive.
1) When my gate is located right across from froyo, I take it as a sign from the universe. Froyo for breakfast. Froyo for snack. Froyo for dinner. Time of day is not relevant in an airport. Neither are calories.
2) In the same way the universe sends me signs about when it’s appropriate to eat froyo, I also think the universe is sending me signs about my plane plummeting to the ground. Like the time autocorrect changed my message to my family. “Will call everyone back when I reach my fate.” WHAT? What does that mean? Does that mean the universe is telling me I’m going to die today? [I’m alive. Don’t worry.]
3) I love listening to podcasts. I refuse to listen to podcasts about the news while I’m on a flight. It makes me think all the bad things. Like the recent news about the Taliban killing six American soldiers in Afghanistan? I can’t hear that shit while I’m on a plane. I panic. And think all the worst possible things that could happen to me in that moment.
4) I don’t drink coffee before I get on a flight. Too much anxiety. Plus, I dislike Starbucks in airports and grocery stories. I’m far from high maintenance when it comes to coffee. But when it comes to Starbucks, I prefer a free-standing store.
5) Instead of coffee, I drink water. And Xanax. But I did NOT want to buy a $4 water bottle just to have a few sips to swallow the pills. So, I drank some water from the water fountain. I think it’s been a hot minute since I’ve had water from a water fountain. Because I forgot how to do it. My hair fell in. And then I proceeded to walk around the airport with wet tips. Like a dog with wet ears.
Embarrassing.
Now it’s your turn.
‘Fess up.
Tell me some secrets.

I’m about to leave for the airport (and 13 hours of flights!!!!) and now I’m trying desperately to think happy thoughts because I’m the most anxious person on earth! But I’ve got some good books on my kindle so I’m hoping that will distract me enough. Congrats on making it home in one piece, travel is rough!
