Good morning!
Hope everyone’s surviving the 4-day work week. I, for one, am enjoying my 0-day work week. I imagine this no-work thing is going to get old real fast, but for now, I’m not complaining. I’m enjoying the free time.
The movers should be coming today so I’ll be pretty occupied with that. But, before I completely disappear under a pile of boxes, let’s do another round of confessions.
[These are my confessions…]
1) These sleepy eyes fell asleep before the fireworks went off on the 4th. In our defense, it was the night before Ankur started his bootcamp so we needed to get all the rest we could get! (In reality, I had some grape juice at the afternoon barbecue we went to and nothing makes me sleepier than grape juice).
2) I am from California. So this firefly thing is new to me. We went for a walk around the neighborhood earlier this week and we started seeing some blinking lights on the lawn in front of our apartment. I, being the west-coast doofus that I am, thought they were some year-round form of Christmas lights that added some decoration or flair to the massive open land. Turns out they were fireflies. WHAT? So CRAZY. I’m still not over it. I peek outside the window every night.
3) We still haven’t sent out thank you cards for all the thoughtful gifts we got for our wedding. Between packing and traveling across the country and unpacking, things have been a little busy during May/June. But they will be sent out this week! (I would insert the ‘ashamed’ emoji if WordPress allowed emojis.)
Questions of the Day:
- What did you do for the Fourth of July?
- Do you handwrite thank you cards or use an online service?

I grew up in Illinois. We call them lightening bugs there. My girls couldn’t wait to visit grandma and catch them.
