Good morning, good morning.
We are on day 2342342 of being inside.
Okay, that’s not true. But it certainly feels like it.
I love my kid and I’m also REAL happy he’s headed back to school today.
He woke us up last night at least 8 times. At one point, I could tell he was congested so we rearranged our sleeping situation so that he’d be elevated and closest to the humidifier. And in the middle of setting that up, he got pissed at me because I put his toddler pillow in a vertical position instead of in a horizontal position.
I mean, sometimes I just want to be like, “CAN YOU SLOW YOUR ROLL PLEASE? I’M JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU.”
Obviously, I’m an adult. And, when I’m calm and it’s not the middle of the night, I recognize that it’s not a personal attack. But at 2am in the morning, it sure-as-heck feels like it.
Especially after days and days and days and days of ALL THE “NO’S!”
But, our cooped-up-Christmas wasn’t ALL terrible. 🙂 We had some happy moments. So let me share those too.
Ishu made his first ornament.
We did a LOT of Portal-ing the family. Individual video calls and group video calls. The 23rd was Susie Masi’s birthday, so we called her and she dressed up (and danced) like Ishu for the chat.
We played with these fidget tubes endlessly. Connecting them and using them as a jumprope. Connecting them and using them as Christmas lights around our cutest Christmas tree.
We played with our new Toniebox, built another gingerbread house, watched A Snowy Day (3 times), and every single episode of Super Why.
And Mama read a lot of books. Like this one and this one and this one.
We did manage to head outside for about an hour yesterday.
And, whaddya know, we were both so much happier for the rest of the day. BEING COOPED UP HELPS NOBODY.
The weather warms up over the next few days. I don’t know why. But I’m not questioning it. I’m just appreciative that it’s not negative degrees anymore.
Anyway, it’s time to get the monkey ready for school. I’m pretty pumped about it. “When the boss is away, the mice will play.” It’s me. I’m mice.
OKAY BYE, HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
