Good morning,
I’m home with a coughing baby.
And, per usual, I did my Google deep dive to determine if I should keep my kid home if he has no fever and only a cough.
The Internet (and the school handbook) says if there is no fever, it’s probably fine to send your kid to school.
But I just couldn’t do it.
It was quite the comical scene this morning.
Me carrying his clothes from the bedroom to the living room. My internal monologue going strong.
‘No, going to school is good. It’s consistent. Let’s do this thing.”
And then he’d start to cough pretty hard and I would do a 180. And walk back to the bedroom to put his clothes away.
“No, if I send him to school, it’ll get worse. It’s better if he can have a nice, long nap at home.”
I did that three times. The walk from the bedroom to the living room and then back again. Three times.
Until, finally, I threw my hands up in the air and said, “FINE, YOU’RE STAYING HOME.”
So now he is here.
Of course this happens. On the day I mapped out all my to-dos BY THE MINUTE. On a day I was hoping to get a lot of things done.
But that’s OK.
I think there’s always 10 percent of me – especially right now when there are so many germs going around! – that is mentally ready for a change in plans. #Parenthood
So if you need us, we’ll be over here watching the Curious George Christmas movie. And taking naps next to the humidifier.
Have a good one and STAY HEALTHY OUT THERE!
