Ishaan’s been a little fussier than usual.
It could be for many reasons. Teething. His recent vaccinations at his 12 month doctor’s appointment. The fact that he was the center of attention for his birthday and now all the people are gone.
Who knows?
All I know is that there is one way to get a little reprieve from the screaming and it’s to take him outside.
So, we started our morning yesterday with an early, early walk. Temperatures were supposed to get into the 90s (I know. Yikes.) so we left the house around 6:45 while it was still cool out.
And, since it’s been a while (and by “a while,” I mean, maybe a week?), we ended the walk at Starbucks.
He’s gotten a little too familiar with the Starbs (like his mama) and immediately started reaching for a string cheese. I guess this is gonna be our new thing. Mama gets a cold brew. Ishu gets a string cheese.
When we got back, we ate breakfast with Ankur. And then Ishu took a bath and then went down for his first nap. I wanted to get some stuff done during nap time, but I ended up laying on the couch and reading this book.
The constant screaming has made me just want to sit and not use my brain. And reading these fiction novels is a nice little escape from time to time.
He woke up two hours later and, though it was already in the 80s, I knew I needed to get out of the house. For both of our sakes. So we packed the diaper bag and went to Rubio’s for lunch.
BYOA: Bring Your Own Avocado
I brought my own avocado.
Obviously.
This is not the first time I brought my own avocado. I have no shame.
It was a nice little mama baby date. Rubios has outdoor seating that’s in the shade. So he loved getting to watch all the people and the birds and the dogs go by.
All while stuffing his face with black beans and applesauce and mama’s salad. This kid can pack it away. And it makes my heart so happy. I hope he always loves eating this much.
By the time we got home, he was ready for his second nap. This is how he fell asleep.
When he woke up, his papa was back home and the two of them played together for the rest of the evening.
Mostly with balloons.
He passed out around 7:15pm and Ankur and I got to do our usual nighttime bit of one episode of Shameless and one episode of New Girl.
With Ankur being on IM next month, he’ll have to leave the house around 5:15am so I think we’ll be taking a Netflix hiatus in May. For earlier bedtimes. (Which I am absolutely, 100%, a-okay with. I love an early bedtime. Always have, always will).
Now I’m going to soak up this final day of April before my husband disappears for the month.
Happy Friday to all!
