I can’t believe it’s already March! February always trips me up with it’s 28 days. I feel like I have a lot more time than I actually do and deadlines/events sneak up on me unexpectedly!
Needless to say, last week was a challenging one because my brain was slow to this realization. So, by the time Friday evening rolled around, I was absolutely ready for some Pink Drink.
Jen and I made our drinks and went for a walk along Los Gatos Creek Trail. Eventually, we made our way to Campbell Park and had a nice heart-to-heart on the swings.
My stress level was at an all-time high when I left work on Friday. But the combination of best friends, playgrounds, the arrival of the weekend, and Pink Drink made it disappear completely.
After we left the park, we walked to downtown Campbell to have dinner at Aqui and then, on a whim, decided to drive to San Mateo to meet up with some camp friends. It’s always really difficult to rally on a Friday, but I’m so glad I did. I love hanging out with these crazies.
Saturday:
We decided to go hiking at Castle Rock. I haven’t been up here since I first moved up to the Bay and I had forgotten how beautiful it was! I feel so lucky that this is just a short 20-minute drive from us! I don’t know why I don’t take advantage of it more often.
The weather was absolutely perfect for hiking. And, even though it was raining for most of the time, we were sheltered by the trees. So, we could hear the rain, but barely feel it. At one point, it actually hailed for a few minutes which was SO cool. And also a little painful.
By the time our hike was over, we were STARVING, so we drove straight to Rio Adobe for a massive salad and some tacos.
We quickly rushed home and, around 5PM, BethyV and I went to a Dinner for 12 Strangers in Sunnyvale. I love hanging out with UCLA Alumni. It’s always fun to hear everyone’s individual stories: how they ended up at UCLA and where their path took them after graduation.
After the dinner, BethyV and I went to Jack Rose Libation House for a cocktail. I ordered a drink called “This Side of Paradise,” which is made with some of their house-made blackberry jam. It was de-licious.
But, BethyV and I were both feeling a little exhausted so, after we finished our drinks, we went back home and I face-planted into bed. I’m really cool.
Sunday:
Jen and I were originally planning on going on a LONG hike followed up with some homemade brunch, but we both had a lot of work to get done. So, we postponed the hike and, instead, went back to Sanborn for a short 4-mile hike. We also nixed the homemade brunch for some Rojos burritos. I was a little sad about squashing our Brunch Bunch tradition, but in the words of the wise Jen Merz: “Brunch Bunch is not about food. Brunch Bunch is about spirit.”
So, after our burritos, we spent the rest of the day listening to this song on repeat and getting some work done.
I heard this song for the first time when Jessie J sang it on The Voice with one of the finalists and I immediately fell in love with it. Yesterday, we listened to it at least 857 times. Still not over it.
Now, I’m going to go for a quick run before work (with Jessie J on repeat, obviously) and brace myself for Monday. Have a great day! <3
