Good morning, good morning!
Three more days ’til Christmas! I love that Ishu is in charge of the countdown and is just as excited about it as I am. (Though, if we’re being honest, getting to Christmas is like getting to Sunday. It’s a great day, but then when it’s over, IT’S JUST OVER AND BACK TO REAL LIFE? The days leading up to it are so much better!).
I hope Ishu inherits my “Long Live Christmas” mentality.
Well, actually I hope I can actually be a little more like him. Take each day for what it is.
We had our building’s holiday party last night at Pinstripes. We were preparing for it to be one of those dip-in-dip-out holiday parties where we come and eat the dinner as fast as we can but then race home because it would be too much for the kiddos.
But we ended up staying the whole time!
I think the reason for that is because the party was happening right next to the bocce ball courts. Ishu was adopted into this family – not attending the party but playing bocce ball next to the party. There were two girls and two boys – older to Ishu by 5+ years. And they took him under their wing. He had the most fun throwing the balls and playing their version of bocce ball.
Which, in turn, allowed us to fully enjoy talking to and meeting some of our neighbors!
It was so sweet. Ishu kept lingering near them, watching them play. And I stayed on guard, making sure he didn’t interrupt their game. The boys took a break to eat their food, so Ishu was playing around on their court for a little bit. A few minutes later, I saw the 9-year old boy playing with Ishu.
I asked the 9-year old, “Is he messing up your game right now?”
And he said, “No. He’s fine! I’m actually having a lot of fun right now.”
So I stayed back and watched my little guy wiggle his way into this family. By the end of the night, they were all besties.
I love watching Ishu connect with random people. He doesn’t hold back. He jumps right in. And, more often than not, people reciprocate the excitement and energy.
We all had a great time last night and I’m ready for our Christmas-filled weekend!
Hope you have a happy Friday and a great weekend! 🙂
