Good morning, good morning!
We all got into bed around 8ish last night. But Ishu was up and restless until 9:45pm. At which point, I brought out the weighted blanket. And once I put that on top of him, he was out like a light.
I feel like that thing is magic.
There are days where he is just so so tired, but doesn’t know how to quiet his body and that definitely helps.
But, as a result of the late bedtime, the little monkey is still sleeping.
Yesterday, too, he ended up sleeping in ’til 8ish. Which is so unlike him.
Guess he’s still in party mode from this past weekend.
I’m REALLY looking forward to the weather warming up around here so we can head to the playground every day after school. His little muscles need some deep heavy work that sitting at home with toys simply cannot provide.
Although it’s been fun the last two nights watching him play with his new board games he got from Gina Masi. She sent him CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders.
He loves CandyLand. He loves playing with the red piece. And every time we get a color that’s our favorite (orange for papa, red for Ishu, and purple for Mama), he exclaims, “YOUR FAVORITE COLOR!!!” And then gets distracted a little and forgets we’re supposed to be moving our pieces.
I’m not someone who likes to PLAY with kids. I’ll set their stuff up for them. Clean up alongside them. But I don’t really want to play dinosaur parade or pretend airplanes. No thanks.
BUT, I love me some board games.
So this new phase of life is bringing me a lot of joy. I just have to remember to be patient and not get frustrated when he’s moving his piece the wrong way on the game board. Ha.
Anyway, I’m off to get ready for the day. Ishu’s teacher emailed us last night saying that they’re going to continue to visit his new class for the remainder of the week and then he can officially start there on Monday. We were originally supposed to start THIS Monday but the transition and visits have been tough apparently.
We asked Ishu how his new teacher was. And, in an effort to tell us he didn’t enjoy the experience, he said, “She was MEAN.”
And then when we followed up and asked what she said to him, he thought very hard and said, “She said to GO HOME AND LET THE HYENAS EAT ME.”
Ha.
My baby.
It’s going to be a rough transition. For both Ishu and Mama. But such is life. We’ll just make sure to shower him with all the love when he gets home.
Happy hump day everyone! Don’t let the hyenas eat you!
