Last winter, we got Ishu these Kyte Baby long-sleeved pajamas that have doubled as an additional layer on the colder days.
When he wears them, he looks like a little ninja. So we started calling them his ‘ninja clothes.’
He likes them so much that he refuses to throw them in the laundry when they’re dirty because he doesn’t want to go a day without being able to wear them.
His Nani used this as an opportunity to spoil her grandkid. So she got him three more of these pajamas in different colors.
He’s currently obsessed with the blue ones.
This morning, I couldn’t – for the life of me – get him to part with them. So he wore them under his outfit for the day.
On the walk home from school, he started up the thing he’s been doing these days.
“Mama?” he tried to get my attention from the front of the stroller.
“Yes Ishu,” I responded.
“When we get home, I have to find my blue ninja clothes,” he said with a naughty grin.
I (like I have done for the past 8234923 times he’s done this), play dumb. “Oh yeah. I wonder where they can be.”
“When you get home, you can look for them in the drawers,” he said, still smiling.
“Good idea,” I smiled back.
The minute we pulled into the apartment, he said, “Mama, I’m going to go find my ninja clothes.”
He runs to the bedrooms, comes back 4 seconds later, and fakes surprise. “They’re not in my drawer!”
“Hm,” I play along. “Did you check the laundry? Or under the bed?”
“They’re not THERE!” he answered, as he started pulling off his sweatshirt.
“TA-DA!” he said, revealing his blue ninja clothes. “I WAS WEARING THEM THE WHOLE TIME.”
You’d think this little act we do would get old after a while. But no. I love it every time. I actually think it’ll break my heart a little bit when he gets over it.
Love this little ninja with every piece of me.
