Good morning, good morning from California!
We are here this week and lovin’ every second of it so far.
Ankur had taken this week off to break up his residency and fellowship. (And possibly have the week off in case we needed to move. We don’t have to move since he’s doing his fellowship in Chicago, but we kept the week off for my birthday/end of residency/end of school year/desire to see family).
WAHOO.
This year, I knew I wanted to be the boss of my birthday. I wanted to pick a handful of things that would bring me joy and DO THEM.
And so we did.
Over the weekend, we went to Tilden Park for a picnic and a train ride through the redwoods. It was perfect perfect perfect. Sandwiches and family and the redwoods and sunshine. Everything my heart has been craving.
And then on my actual birthday, Ishu and I started the morning together with a 1:1 date. We went to get mama her free Starbs drink, eat chocolate chip bagels and cream cheese, and build a massive Lego castle at The Lot.
I loved getting to kick off my birthday with him.
Then, I swapped him out for Ankur. Ha.
Ankur and I went to Del Valle Winery for a tasting and early lunch. It was nice to be the only people sitting out on their covered patio. Getting to talk to one another and enjoy each other’s company.
And then, after the winery, we drove over to Pleasanton for a little pop-in at the local bookstore, Towne Center Books.
When we got home, the kiddos were both napping. I’ve been reading this book and this book, so I spent some time holed away, reading. And then in the evening, we cut a cake and I got a sweet little card from my baby.
It was a good birthday.
Exactly what I wanted.
Since then, we’ve done some more reading, went to storytime at the library (are y’all catching on to the theme of what my heart is craving?!), and enjoyed evenings at the park.
That’s it!
Short little update.
Happy birthday to me. It was a great one.
