Happy Monday 🙂
I’m currently taking a break from drafting up an IEP.
Today was a pretty phenomenal Monday. I drove up to SF in the early morning to get some work done. Which was so nice because 1) coffee, 2) work without interruptions, and 3) avoided traffic. Win, win, and win.
We took the 2nd and 3rd graders to the Academy of Sciences. The last time I was here was during “Adult Night” when most of the exhibitions weren’t even open. So it was fun seeing EVERYTHING, but even better was watching the kiddos seeing everything. They were just so eager to learn. I loved it.
I think I spent more time watching them look at everything than the things themselves.
Their curiosity makes me so happy. And reminds me that their little minds are so thirsty for knowledge.
And that their curiosity is what makes them so unbelievably special.
Because it’s those non-cognitive skills….those skills that you can’t really teach….the curiosity, the sense of wonder…..it’s those skills that really lead to success. You can have a high cognitive ability, but unless you are interested in the world around you, it really means nothing.
My kids are the best.
In other news, I got some new plants.
I named them.
Bert and Ernie.
One’s going to grow me some tomatoes. The other is going to gimme some pears.
Bert and Ernie are the first plants I’ve ever owned.
I went to the nursery across the street from me to buy some pots and soil. I was supposed to buy a tomato cage, but there were SO MANY OPTIONS. How do you even choose? Like, is a metal one supposed to be better than a plastic one? And how tall do they have to be? And do they have to be able to fit INSIDE the pot or can I just place it around the pot?
Someone help me raise Bert and Ernie. I don’t want them to die.
Because I make all the things die.
I made my Fitbit die.
But don’t worry, the wonderful Fitbit people are sending me a new one.
Two requests.
1) Be my Fitbit friend.
2) Help me raise Bert and Ernie.
Okay, it’s back to work for me.
Happy Monday.
We are one day closer to the weekend. 🙂
