I’m pretty sure that parents of young kids could probably collect an entire 10-book series of the funny things their little ones say.
But, of course, they’re probably too tired to compile any such book.
So, we just share snippets with family members, scribble some funny words down on post-its, or – if you’re like me – type up all the things you can remember and hit ‘Publish’ on a post in hopes that, one day, your kid comes back to this place and laughs at how freakin’ cute he was.
Yesterday, I was itching to get outside after spending the entire previous day indoors. I fed the baby and walked out the door with the stroller, leaving Ishu at home with Ankur and his Dadi.
Trying to get a baby and a 3-year old ready at the same time is no easy feat. So, I left the 3-year old behind and had his Papa get him ready.
In true Ishu fashion, he resisted getting ready, saying he didn’t want to go outside.
And, again, in true Ishu fashion, once he set foot outside, he was the happiest kid alive.
I met the two of them outside Foxtrot. We got him some breakfast tacos and sat down on the patio. He was all smiles. Ankur looked at him and said, “Remember when you didn’t want to come outside and now look how happy you are.”
Knowing full well that we’d be playing the same game tomorrow when we tried to get him ready, I jumped in. “Next time it’s hard for you to get ready, we can remind you how happy you are outside.”
Ishu looked at me. Then he looked off in the distance. He leaned into Ankur and said, “You’re gonna be my conscience.”
Then he paused. And asked, “Did I do it right?”
HAHAHA.
I love when he tries to use a new word he heard. (He heard the word “conscience” from Pinocchio).
But it was even funnier to me yesterday when he followed it up by checking if he used the word correctly.
This blog is now becoming a running record of all the funny, sweet things Ishu says and does. And I’m not mad about it.
Hope you have a good day 🙂
