It’s FRIDAY!
Weekends are starting to mean something to me these days and I LOVE it.
I kind of feel like I’m one year behind the times.
One and a half, I guess.
Everyone had to move to remote work when COVID hit. But I was on maternity leave then.
And then decided to take a year off since we were only in SoCal for a year (Ankur’s internship year).
So now I’m trying to navigate the whole “work from home with a kid” thing that everyone else was trying to figure out a while ago.
Though I do feel like things are a little easier for me. Because I’ve got Bella. And at least places are open up now. So when I DO need to leave the house to be a little more productive, I can hop on over to a coffee shop. Back in 2020, people weren’t given that option. It blows my mind to think of all things parents had to do. Set their kids up on Zoom calls, hop onto Zooms themselves, and then just be around each other all the freaking time.
But, anyway, in terms of being a working person (and a working mama at that), I am starting to remember how to do small things to get my shit in order.
For the last year and a half, I was just on survival mode. There was no planning anything for the day or the week. No making to-do lists and mapping out a schedule. It was just “wake up, play, eat, feed, sleep, repeat.”
And now that I’ve got more on my plate, I am realizing I can’t do it all if I don’t have some semblance of order.
So, I’m back to planning out my mornings. Putting things on my calendar by the hour so I can take advantage of the times of the day we’ve got Bella.
And, even though I haven’t worked up to Sunday food prep yet, even the simple act of deciding WHAT we’re eating each night has helped tremendously.
So I know exactly what I need to do when I get in the kitchen. Versus opening up the fridge and pantry 23425 times and then scrolling on DoorDash for an hour, only to get dinner delivered at 8pm.
Every time I check off something on my to-do list each hour, I get this little giddy feeling in my tummy. And I wanna scream, “I’M BACK. I’M BACK. I HAVE MY SHIT TOGETHER AGAIN.”
Well, I don’t think I ever “had my shit together” back then.
But there was at LEAST an attempt.
And I’m back to attempting.
WOO-HOO.
Happy Friday to all! Hope you have a fun weekend filled with pumpkin patches and other fall things!
