Good morning, good morning. I’m popping in this morning from northern California.
So crazy, I know.
I was supposed to fly back to Chicago on Saturday from SoCal. But the universe had other plans for our fam.
Drew and Sister’s sweet baby Maya Allen made her debut four weeks early!
So, naturally, I had to change my flight and come meet the newest member of our family.
We drove up on Friday, I took a Covid test Saturday, and I got to meet her Sunday.
And, lemme just tell you, I’m already in love.
She’s the ittiest bittiest sweetest little baby.
Drew and Sister seem to already have figured out a nice little rhythm and routine for their new fam of three. And it was such a blessing to get to watch them in action yesterday.
I knew Sister was going to be a great mom. But I wasn’t prepared to see her be so CALM and cool and collected. I keep thinking back to that first week I became a mama. If I had to describe myself in one adjective, it’d be “emotional.” If I had to describe myself in two adjectives, it’d be “emotional” and “slippery.” Slippery from all those tears and sweat.
Sister reassured me that it feels equally hard at times.
But she certainly didn’t make it look hard yesterday. She was meant to be a mama. And now Maya has made that dream come true.
Can’t wait to love and squeeze and spoil this sweet girl for the rest of our lives!
