Good morning!
Yesterday was another one of Ishu’s board-breaking ceremonies. And, similar to all of them, there’s a part of the ceremony where the sensei says when it’s their turn, they can run to the back and give one of the props a high-five. OR, they can run over to their grown-up in the audience and give them a high-five.
I was sitting in the back, by the window. On an exercise mat. Keeping the baby entertained while also keeping an eye on the ceremony.
Ankur was a few feet in front of us, standing by the wall, watching the ceremony.
So, when it was Ishu’s turn, he starts running toward Ankur.
Ankur puts his hands out, ready to welcome the high-five.
But, Ishu swerves,
And runs behind Ankur and everyone thinks, “Oh okay, he’s running to his mom” and we hear a little bit of laughter.
But, nope.
He went straight for baby brother.
He knelt down and gave him a hug and baby high-five and then ran back to his Crouching Tigers group.
Ha.
Screw my parents. BABY BROTHER IS LIFE.
It was a chaotic, but fun ceremony. And then we went to the park after school yesterday. So many of his school buddies were there and we ended up staying way later than we had planned.
But it was worth it.
On Monday, we went to watch Elemental at the park.
Good movie, but was definitely more there for the fun picnic, community, neighborhood, family fun atmosphere. I felt like the entire neighborhood came out to play.
Have I mentioned how much I love summers here?
