We’ve got a residency graduate over here.
One that has to return to work today because, despite the graduation ceremony being done, he’s got 2 more weeks of his rotation.
His program director emphasized a few times during the ceremony that the diplomas they’d be receiving were FAKE and they’d get the real ones after completing a few things. Ha. Including the last of their final rotation.
Still, I can’t believe we’ve reached this milestone.
It feels like ages ago that we drove cross country to Tennessee to start the medical school journey. We’re still not done, but we’re another step closer to the finish line.
There are 12 residents in Ankur’s cohort and so the ceremony was quite intimate. Some of the attendings put together these detailed presentations for each resident with fun facts and accomplishments and photos. It felt like I got to know everyone and their background a little better. And I was pretty amazed that, despite being such busy professionals, they managed to carve out time to put together something so special for this class.
It felt so nice to celebrate the graduate this weekend. So nice having family here. And the coolest thing that our kids get to witness these milestones and see these constant reminders that the learning never stops.
Happy graduation!
