Can all weekends be long weekends? Please?
I feel like I’d be a more productive human if I got the extra day(s).
As always, I’m going to recap my weekend with lots of pictures to make this Monday morning a little happier.
Friday:
Started the morning off with some pastries from Big Sur Bakery. They were enjoyed – guilt-free – since we were fueling up for a 7-mile hike.
We decided to drive south to hike through Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. It was a warm morning, but we were covered by the trees for most of the hike so it felt nice and cool.
We took the Ewoldsen Trail – which led us through the redwood forest and then to the top of hills where we got a beautiful view of the Big Sur coast. We were literally on the edge of the hills – with trees all around us, staring out at the ocean. It was breathtaking. So much so that I tripped and fell and ended up with some scratches on my arms and legs. (Apparently it’s really hard for me to walk and admire the views at the same time).
After the 7-mile hike, we did a short little walk to see McWay Falls. The water was so many different shades of blue. And the waterfall was spilling out right on the beach. Gorgeous.
Lunch was at Big Sur Roadhouse – which was conveniently located next to the cabin we were staying in. Just a few steps away.
Post-lunch, some people took naps. Others made margaritas.
Post-margaritas, some people woke up. Others took naps. (Orrrrrr….just fell asleep for the rest of the night).
Saturday:
Since I fell asleep so early, I also woke up nice and early. And hungry. We walked up to the cafe and got some French toast. Breakfast #1.
And then came back and made some chai and toast. Breakfast #2.
And then went to Big Sur Lodge for Breakfast #3. Carb loading post-hike is a thing. Yeah?
Shortly after all three breakfasts, we decided to head back. I did, after all, have to get ready for my favorite holiday. [SO MUCH SARCASM.]
Sunday:
The time change made me get up earlier than I expected to. So, I went to Peet’s for a work “Power Hour.” Peet’s has red cups just like Starbs does! (Don’t be fooled – I haven’t conformed).
I spent the rest of the day cooking and working. And pretending that I was still in the redwoods.
Now it’s time to buckle down and get ready for a full work week.
Luckily, I’ve got yoga tonight to look forward to!
Happy Monday 🙂
Questions of the Day:
- Favorite kind of tree?
Mine is a toss-up between redwood trees and pine trees. I can’t decide - What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this week?
Yoga. Always yoga. And the weekend. Duh.
