Being married to someone in medicine can sometimes mean lots of moving around! We moved from California to Tennessee (two different towns!) back to California (both ends!) and then landed here in Chicago. And, while we are here for a few years, this is not our final destination.
Thank goodness we have a helpful, supportive family that doesn’t mind us taking over their rooms and storage spaces with all our stuff.
Over the past six years, we’ve kept some things at my parents’ house in Orange County, some things at Ankur’s mama and papas’ house in San Ramon, and we brought exactly five suitcases worth of stuff to Chicago.
But none of our Christmas decor made it here.
We left some ornaments behind in SoCal. And we left some up in NorCal to decorate the tree when we get there. Since our Chicago tree is less than three feet tall, we thought we could buy a couple new ones here.
We got this one because we moved to Chicago this year (and also Ishu’s first flight was this year! By the time we celebrate Christmas, he’ll have gone on six flights).
And we also got this one because, well, duh.
And this one. This is the first ornament that came.
Feels pretty dang great that we’re vaccinated and boosted. Especially considering the fact that last Christmas, we all tested positive and were on house arrest for two weeks.
Can’t believe that this thing is still around, new variants are springing up, and we’re still living a weird, abnormal reality.
I mean, one of the first words Ishu learned was “mask.” How’s that for pandemic baby status?
Anyway, I know things have loosened up a bit in so many places. Even with the new variant, things aren’t going to close down the way they once did. However, I’m pretty dang sure that the Mathur family is going into hibernation mode. At least until they board their flight to California in a few weeks.
I don’t know about ya’ll, but we are not cut out for these 25mph winds while temps are in the 30s.
You can take the girl out of California. But you cannot take the girl out of her heated apartment in Chicago.
Good day.
Question of the Day:
What are the temps where you live?
What’s your favorite ornament for this year’s tree?

Got my early morning “smile” after reading this blog.
Taking the Girl and her Baby out of her heated apartment.
Stay safe. Stay blessed.
Stay indoor on cold days but do make time to go out with Ishu when the sun is out.
The key is Layer yourselves. (count and it should be at least 5 layers. hahah)
