The End of Winter Break

6 Jan

All good things must come to an end.

Unfortunately.

But it’s been a great two weeks away from work. Usually around this time on Sunday, I’m feeling a little unprepared, anxious, and overwhelmed for the week ahead. I’m still pretty unprepared and need to tackle the lesson plans for the week, but I’m feeling a lot more relaxed thanks to the time off.

The past two weeks, I:

  • Went to Palm Springs with the family:

  • Spent a lot of time appreciating the beauty that is my home. Or my home away from home? Can I have two homes?

  • Cooked/baked/and ate lots of yummy food. And paid for it on the scaleBut I’m not beating myself up over it. I enjoyed lots of wine, champagne, and Christmas treats. MOVING ON.

  • Ended the break with a bang – camping at Big Sur with some of my favorites <3

This doesn't even illustrate a fraction of how beautiful this beach was...

This illustrates only a FRACTION of how beautiful this place was…

Yes, there’s a part of me that is dreading real life (and changing out of my winter break uniform of yoga pants and UGGS). But there’s another part of me that’s ready to get back to routine, my kids, and a new year.

All good things DO come to an end. But it was a really, really good thing. :)

Your post reminded me of a yearly emotional cycle being an expat. We look forward and wait patiently for our vacation schedule and once we are back home with our family, our vacation days are always not enough.

Then we are back to reality again being a working expat and look forward again for our next vacay sked.

Indeed, all good things must come to an end, unfortunately. :-)
